Parenting Success

There are a lot of parent fail’s through out my day. At least if I compare my activities to some of those other mom’s it seems that way. But I feel I have a parenting success when my kid makes healthy food choices.

Last night I had no desire to cook, nor did I have any desire to wait for food to be cooked. In fact I wanted pizza. Not a fancy pizza, just $5 hot-n-ready from Little ceasars. Fast, cheap and easy, just what I was feeling like. Now I thought A. was in for a real treat she usually likes eating at least half of a slice of supreme pizza from Costco. Maybe it was lacking veggies or it just wasnt sliced large enough for her to enjoy but A. had no desire to finish her pizza. After about 2-3 bites she asked for grapes. I was so shocked and also impressed she wanted grapes. Awesome my kid is a healthy eater and I love it.

The awesome health kick continues… today as in most days I gave about 5-10 options for lunch, which include pb&j, pb&chocolate, cheese quesadilla, hot dog, chicken nuggets, etc. But every day her first request is for peanut butter, nanna (peanut butter and banana). Now we don’t do a nice peanut butter, banana sandwich because in all honesty the bread is just useless carbs and calories. Instead it is literally a pile of peanut butter and a sliced banana she can dip in the peanut butter. She loves it! That is what I call a parenting win!

The worst New Years Resolution

I was lucky enough to have my son in January. So right when everyone makes their I am going to lose weight resolution technically I had already lost some weight WOOT!! Even if i did have that lovely jelly belly I had lost some weight.

Well when E. was a couple weeks old we realized that he really didn’t like chocolate. No I didn’t give my son  chocolate but if I ate it and then nursed him it was like World War III in our apartment and trust me he won out. So for my new years resolution I said ok I cant have it anyway, I am going to give up chocolate for a year. And I was pretty proud of that decision what a great and healthy choice I made.

Now its been 10 months and all I can think is holy CRAP when can i eat a freaking snicker bar. E. is for the most part weaned, thanks to the fact that he is so busy the idea of sitting down and nursing really didn’t sit well with him. I did really good for the first nine months but this past month has been awful.

Maybe it’s Halloween and those delicious Reese's pumpkins or other yummy chocolaty goodness but man I have a hankering that will not be squelched. I have even planned my chocolate desert to break my chocolate fast.

yep its this one from your local chili’s! I also have informed my sweet Husband Cade, no I will not be sharing so he can either get his own and share it with the kids or he can sit in the car while I devour the entire thing in two minutes. Mind you I still have almost 2 months until I am supposed to eat this. ‘

But My resolve is waning and I cant decide if I should hold out based on principle or give in because lets be honest 99% of resolutions are broken in the first month anyway and who would I be if i completed mine but the awkward 1%. Chili’s may just win this round.

Blessed Nap Time

There is this secret blessing in the day that many mom’s refer to as nap time. Now when you have more than one child it seems almost like the elusive unicorn and your attempts to find and tame it into a certain time period almost always fail. However today was not one of those days,

Today was one of those days were the heavens opened and both kids napped at the same time and there seemed to be peace among all the land. Now the downside to this is my inability to be productive while my kids are napping. Something about them sleeping makes me not want to do the things I originally set out to do.

Yep its bad, so bad rather than sweep my floor or put away dishes I decided I just had to know who won project runway! (Spoiler alert: It’s sean) Anyway and now that I can hear my two kids chatting up a storm I realize well Crap now I have an entire floor to sweep while entertaining my children. Blast you procrastination!

UTAH

I have been holding off on writing this blog because one I am being lazy, and two i didn't want to write a huge post again. Well this weekend I decided, who needs all the words. There fore you get 99% pictures with 1% words to explain photos and events,

I spent two weeks in Utah without Cade while he was in school and although it was a lot of fun, it was also a lot of work. Still my mom knows how to make anything into an adventure. She started by having us head up to Bear world for two days. Which was so much fun and I got to see my sister-in-law and old roomie BONUS!!!

There was of course also swimming daily and a quick trip to the Natural History Museum in Salt Lake city. All in all a great couple of days. Once we returned our days weren't any less hectic. We went to IKEA, the children's museum twice, got to see another old roomie for some much needed catch up time and celebrated a birthday lots to do and keep us entertained.
